Sri Thirumazhisai Perumal Temple (Thiruseemavundham)

Sri Thirumazhisai Perumal Temple at Thiruseemavundham is one of the eleven Divya Desams in the Thirunangur cluster near Sirkazhi, praised by Thirumangai Azhwar in the Divya Prabandham. Uniquely, this deity is named after Thirumazhisai Azhwar, one of the twelve Azhwar saints, honoring the deep bond between the Lord and His devotee. In Sri Vaishnava tradition, the Lord takes the name of His beloved devotee as the highest expression of divine love. The name "Seemavundham" refers to the boundary (Seema) of the cosmos that the Lord has consumed (Vundham), alluding to the Trivikrama avatara where Vishnu measured all worlds with three steps. The temple is part of the spectacular Thirunangur Garuda Sevai procession held annually.
