Divya Desam #3 of 108
Sri Vadivazhagiya Nambi Temple at Thiruanbil (Anbil) is a sacred Divya Desam celebrated by Thirumangai Azhwar in his Periya Thirumozhi hymns of the Divya Prabandham. Located near Lalgudi in Tiruchirappalli district, the temple is set in the fertile Kaveri delta region of Chola Nadu, an area steeped in Vaishnavite heritage. The deity's name "Vadivazhagiya Nambi" means "the Lord whose form is exquisitely beautiful," and He stands in a majestic posture (Nindra Thirukolam) radiating divine splendor. The temple architecture reflects the artistic traditions of the Chola dynasty with ornate pillars and detailed sculptures depicting Vishnu's avatars. This shrine holds a special place in Sri Vaishnavism for Thirumangai Azhwar's passionate verses extolling the Lord's enchanting form.
Nearest airport is Tiruchirappalli International Airport (25 km). Lalgudi railway station is about 5 km away.
