Divya Desam #104 of 108
Sri Nandipura Vinnagaram Temple at Thirunarayanapuram is a Vada Nadu Divya Desam glorified by Thirumangai Azhwar in the Divya Prabandham. "Vinnagaram" in Tamil means "city of the sky/heaven," indicating a temple of extraordinary sanctity where the Lord manifests in a form reminiscent of His celestial abode. Thirumangai Azhwar — the great warrior-saint who travelled the length and breadth of the subcontinent singing of Vishnu's sacred sites — praised this kshetram during his extensive pilgrimage through the Vada Nadu region. The temple celebrates Sri Narayana Perumal, the Lord in His supreme cosmic form as the refuge of all beings (Narayana = the one who is the abode/goal of all nara/beings). This kshetram, along with the other Vada Nadu Divya Desams, demonstrates that the Azhwars' devotional cartography was truly pan-Indian — their songs transformed distant North Indian sites into intimate, personally experienced landscapes of devotion.
