Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (Nachiyar Koil)

Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Thirunaraiyur, popularly known as Nachiyar Koil, is a celebrated Divya Desam near Kumbakonam praised by both Thirumangai Azhwar and Nammazhwar in the Divya Prabandham. The temple is unique because it is one of the rare Vaishnavite shrines where the Goddess (Nachiyar) has Her own independent temple — hence the name "Nachiyar Koil" (Temple of the Goddess). Sri Vanjulavalli Nachiyar is worshipped with great reverence in Sri Vaishnava tradition here. The temple is famous for its stone sculpture of the Goddess adorned with a stone sari, a marvel of Chola-era craftsmanship. This shrine highlights the important role of the Divine Mother in Vaishnavism as the compassionate intercessor who leads devotees to the Lord.
