Divya Desam #108 of 108
Sri Devanatha Perumal Temple at Thiruvahindipuram (also written as Thiruvahindrapuram) near Cuddalore is the second of the two Nadu Nadu Divya Desams, completing the 108 sacred Vishnu temples of the Divya Prabandham tradition. "Devanatha" means "Lord of the Devas (celestial beings)," and "Thiruvahindipuram" is interpreted as "the sacred city of Indra" (Thiru + Mahendrapuram), commemorating a legend where Indra worshipped Vishnu at this site to regain his lost kingdom. The temple is beautifully situated near the confluence of the Gadilam and Paravanar rivers. Thirumangai Azhwar praised this kshetram in his hymns, celebrating the Lord who is the refuge of even the king of the Devas. As the 108th and final Divya Desam in the traditional enumeration, Thiruvahindipuram carries a special completional significance — it closes the sacred circuit that began at Srirangam, encompassing temples from Kerala to Nepal, from Gujarat to the celestial realms, all woven together by the golden thread of the Azhwars' devotion into one unified garland of 108 sacred sites.
