Sri Pandava Dhoothar Temple

Sri Pandava Dhoothar Temple at Thiruppadagam, near Kanchipuram, is another Thondai Nadu Divya Desam celebrating the Lord as "Pandava Dhoothar" — Krishna the divine messenger who went to the Kaurava court seeking peace on behalf of the Pandavas. While the Kanchipuram Pandava Thoothar temple (id 75) also celebrates this theme, Thiruppadagam presents the deity in a distinct setting and form, reflecting the Tamil Vaishnavite tradition of honoring the same divine leela across multiple sacred sites, each offering a unique devotional flavor. Thirumangai Azhwar praised this temple in the Periya Thirumozhi with characteristic eloquence. Poigai Azhwar and Bhoothathazhwar, Mudhal Azhwars of Thondai Nadu, venerated the Lord in His Krishna form across the region. The temple is situated in the lush Kanchipuram countryside, reflecting the rural temple tradition that complements the grand urban shrines of the Pallava capital city.
